Obituary

Delores "Lori" (Mader) Schmidt, Brillion, age 83, died Monday, May 31, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on December 5, 1926 in Woodville Township to the late George and Olive (Klassen) Mader. Lori married Leonard H. Schmidt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood on June 19, 1945. She enjoyed sewing, singing and golfing. Lori was a former Eucharistic Minister and member of the Mixed Choir at St. Katharine Drexel Parish – St. Francis Site. She was also a former member of the Thursday Ladies League at Countryside Golf Course for 30 years. A tireless volunteer, Lori worked in the St. Paul Elder Services Gift Shop, made over 300 receiving blankets for poor families in the Madison area and 24 book bags for needy school children in Chicago. Along with her husband, Len, she supported 3 girls in Kenya through the Christian Children's Fund. With five other couples, they also helped to settle two Bosnian ladies, opening their home to them for 2 weeks until an apartment could be readied for them. Lori was an active member of the Tri-County Homemakers Club since 1960.

Lori is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Leonard; children: Judy (John) Bloch, Clearwater, FL; Jeff (Diane), Kaukauna; Gloria (Joe) Pieters, Boyceville; Tom (Sally), De Pere; and Tony (Sue), Forest Junction; grandchildren: Dennis and Doug (Rosa) Bloch, Greg (Maria), Vaughn (Rachele), J.T. (Toni), Nathanial, Karl and Zakary Pieters, Amanda (Steve) Beals, Becky (Andrew) Fenske, Jennifer (Dan) Koenig, Andy, Adam and Mike Krueger, Crystal, Eric, Shane (Jennifer), Brian (Lulu), and Angie Schmidt; great-grandchildren: Dalton, Rachel, Ryan and Dylan Bloch, Vincent, Veronica, Angelina, Jasmine, Ava and Ella Pieters, Doug, Victoria, Johnny and Jeanne Schmidt, Makayla and Miranda Koenig, Grace and Bijou Beals and Alex Fenske; sisters and brother: Ethel Kruse, George (Ellie) Mader, Noretta (Ron) Bastian, Deanna (Max) Wolf; sisters-in-law: Audrey, Violet and Carol Mader, Lucille (Dan) Spencer and Loraine (Don) Brink; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lori was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law Henry and Elizabeth Schmidt; step mother-in-law Mary Schmidt; sister and brothers: Marian (Jim) Beach, Gerald (Irene), Adrian (Lucille), Jeanne (Clarence) Schmidt and Bob Mader; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Oliver Kruse, Art (Marian) and Andrew Schmidt, Rosemary (Hilard) Brantmeier and Harry Johnson.

Visitation will be held Friday June 4, 2010 beginning at 8:30 a.m. until Mass at 11:00 a.m. at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – ST.FRANCIS SITE (433 County Rd. CE, Hollandtown). The Rev. Jerry Pastors will officiate. Committal St. Francis Cemetery.
