David "Dave" L. Porter Sr., Appleton, age 79, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014. He was born in Bird Island, MN on July 14, 1935 to the late William Earl Porter and Olive (Taylor) Porter Stucke. David served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He married Annette Larson at Maynard Lutheran Church on April 29, 1961. Together, they moved to Appleton from Dalton, MN in 1967 before settling in Little Chute in 1970. They returned to Appleton in 2009. David worked for Little Chute Elevator from 1968-1985 and Stock Lumber in Appleton from 1989-1999. He volunteered as a Cub and Boy Scout leader and was involved with United Commercial Travelers as an officer for over 10 years. David was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Kaukauna.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annette; daughters: Melanie Porter Kunz and Debbie Plach; sons: David L. Porter Jr. and Randy Porter; grandsons: Jordan Plach and Adam Porter; and siblings: Hazel Richards, William, Allen and James Porter. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters: Ruth Fransen and Helen Ryan and their spouses; and his brother-in-law: Lowell Richards.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (2300 E. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna). Rev.
