In Loving Memory of Dave Jerome "Danger" Nettekoven
June 21, 1976 – June 29, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dave Jerome Nettekoven—affectionately known by many as "Danger"—on June 29, 2025, in Appleton, Wisconsin, at the age of 49.
Born on June 21, 1976, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. From a young age, he had a deep love for music—especially Pink Floyd—fast cars, & the open water. One of his favorite pastimes was spending quality time with friends by a bonfire, an ice-cold glass of Crown Royal in hand. During his time working at Duchow's Boat Center, he purchased "Dave's Floating Fun Barge," which was lovingly christened by his stepson, Josh. He & his best friend Aaron installed the diamond plate coating themselves—a project Dave took great pride in. Bike rides with his stepdaughter Zoe & time spent on the water with family & friends was something he truly cherished.
Dave had a big heart & an even bigger presence. He was generous, compassionate, & always ready with a quick-witted comeback. Conversations with him were never boring—he had a mind for numbers, a deep love for animals (especially his beloved cat Jake), & a thoughtful, giving nature. Acts of service were his love language, & his presence always brought wonderful conversations. He could often be heard saying, "I told you so," with his trademark smirk.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jerome "Bud" Nettekoven; his mother, Wilma Alagunda Nettekoven; his sister, Patty Martin; & his brother, Jim Arnoldussen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Leah Juhnke Nettekoven, & their family: Zoe Landwehr & Josh Berghuis; his brother Brian (Kelly) Nettekoven & their children Natalie, Madison, & goddaughter Hannah Nettekoven; his sister Karen (Ken) Brown; his brother Harry (Linda) Arnoldussen; his sister Barb (Eugene) Mueller; his sister Jean (Tom) Peters; his sister Brenda (Kurt) Mader & their children Alyssa & Arlo; & many more friends & extended family who loved him dearly.
Though his time with us was far too short, Dave's impact will be felt for years to come. He lives on in the stories we tell, the memories we share, & the quick comebacks only he could deliver.
Numbers 6:24-26. "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace".
