Darlene A. Romenesko, Little Chute, age 80, died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Freedom on August 18, 1937 to the late John and Geraldine (Miller) Gerrits. Darlene married Leroy Romenesko on August 23, 1958 at St. Nicholas Parish in Freedom. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2010. She worked at Appleton Trophy for 30 years until her retirement. Darlene enjoyed going for fish on Friday, cross stitching baby blankets, and baking. She also like to play poker with the ladies, casino trips with her sister and brothers-in-law, and shopping. She loved entertaining company in her home, and the occasional cocktail. Darlene was an avid Packer fan.
Darlene is survived by her children: Brenda (Joe) Nicolais, Appleton; and Bruce (Chris) Romenesko, Appleton; grandchildren: Stephanie and Aaron (Sarah) Nicolais, Brittany and Jason Romenesko; step granddaughter, Christine (Bill) Kolgen; great grandchildren: Drake, Hudson and Payton; and step great grandchildren, Alex and Trevor; siblings: Roger "Snipe" Gerrits, Clarice Islinger and Vernadine (Jim) Welch; and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Mildred, Lillian and Lois Gerrits, Donald Evers, Del (Diane), Dean, Neil and Bev Romenesko, June Geiger, Bonnie (Richard) Byford and Noreen (Tom) Thomas. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leroy, Darlene was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Clem and Alice Romenesko; step mother, Loretta Gerrits; brothers: Robert, Donald and Eugene Gerrits; sisters: Germaine (Jerome) Werner, Audrey (Earl) Van Handel and Elaine Evers; and brothers-in-law: Frank Islinger and Ron Romenesko.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of Darlene's care givers, nieces, nephews, in laws, and neighbors, for their help and support.
We will miss you for the loving, fun, and caring mother that you were to us.
