Daniel "John" Romenesko of Little Chute, a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 79 on Monday, December 3, 2018. He was born to the late Joseph and Barbara (Verkuilen) Romenesko in Appleton in 1939. On November 10, 1960, Dan married his beautiful and loving wife Gerry Wyngaard at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and had four wonderful children who, to this day, still rave about the love their parents shared. Dan's career began as a barber when he opened Romenesko's Barber Shop in Kaukauna, with his brother Wes Romenesko. After several years at the barber shop, Dan changed career paths to become an off-machine operator, and later an electrician, at Appleton Papers in Combined Locks until his retirement in July of 2001. Dan was an honest, hardworking, and loving man who was always there to help in times of need and celebrate in times of joy. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He especially cherished being a grandfather and attending his grandchildren's sporting events all over the country. Dan had a long life filled with laughter and love and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gerry; children: Scott (Gretchen) Romenesko, Hilbert; Kim (Dave) Klund, Freedom; Laurie (Mike) Jansen, Shawnee, KS; and Curt Romenesko, Darboy; grandchildren: Carly and Haily Romenesko, Michael (Amy Bouchard), John (Melissa) and Jake (Taylor) Biesterveld, Ashley (Matt) Anderson, Davis (Brooke Marshall) and Darbi (Riley Fox) Klund, Chris (Tarah) Jansen, Brook (Drew) Hoy, Leah (Matt) Menting and Katrina (Theodore Van Thiel) Jansen; great grandchildren: Zoey and Riley Biesterveld , Jerrod and Daniel Anderson, Carter Biesterveld, Colton, Maddox, and Weston Jansen, Lillian Cheatham and Greyson Menting; brothers: Maynard (Roseanne), Bill and Gary (Adele) Romenesko; sisters: Pat (Roger) Hermsen and Betty (Matt) Hupfer; and sisters-in-law: Phyllis Vandenberg, Jan Wockenfuss and Cindy Wyngaard. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sibling, Wes (Aggie) Romenesko; and in-laws: Celine Romenesko, Tom Vandenberg and Dennis Wyngaard.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Mass will follow at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
