Obituary

Daniel (Bernard) Kabat O.F.M. Cap., Capuchin Friar and priest, died on June 25, 2015 at the age of 81, following a series of health complications.

Daniel Kabat was born on June 6, 1934 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, son of Bernard and Irene Kabat. He was invested in the Capuchin Order on August 31, 1952, and professed his perpetual vows on September 1, 1956. He was ordained a priest on September 8, 1960.

During his many years of ministry, Dan Kabat served as a missionary in Nicaragua (1962-1981). He also served as assistant novice director from 1982-1984. In 1984 he was assigned as pastor in Saginaw, Michigan; and in 1986 was assigned as pastor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in Hispanic ministries in Madison, Wisconsin from 1994 - 1997, and then was transferred to Solvang, California where he ministered with the Capuchins there until 2011, when he retired to Appleton, Wisconsin.

Daniel Kabat is survived by one brother, Lee Kabat of Waupaca, WI, as well as his many Capuchin brothers with whom he lived, prayed and ministered during the past 63 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at ST. ISIDORE THE FARMER PARISH – HOLY CROSS CHRUCH (308 County Road W, Mount Calvary) from 4 pm to 7 pm.
