Daniel T. "Dan" Hoppe, of Mountain, formerly of Kaukauna, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 6, 2025.  He was born in Appleton on August 17, 1953, the son of Eugene Hoppe and Virginia (nee Zarter) Hoppe-Nohr.  Dan married Deb Sommerfeld in Green Bay on February 3, 1973.  He worked as a millwright at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for many years and ended his career working for the Millwrights Local 1056.  Upon retirement, Dan and Deb were able to realize their lifelong dream of living up north, and they moved to Mountain.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.  He played hockey in high school and into his 20's.  Dan also enjoyed scuba diving.

He was passionate about ATV riding.  Together, he and Deb founded the Dusty Trails ATV Club in 1995.  They spent countless hours building relationships with municipal and county government as well as the local landowners.  He retired from the Dusty Trails board in 2020 but still loved to ride with his best riding companion, Bolt.

Dan and Deb also loved riding on their Goldwing.  They took a trip each summer, enjoying trips to Canada, New York, and various destinations out West.

Dan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deb; children:  Tonya (Todd) Young and Shane (Robin) Hoppe, all of Kaukauna; grandchildren:  Blake (fiancée Danielle Ahlborn) Hoppe, Kierstin Young, Autumn Hoppe, McKenna Young, and Logan Young; his mother, Virginia Nohr; siblings:  Steven Hoppe and Ellen (Glen) Hefty; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Terri (Dennis) Campbell, Lance (Cathy) Sommerfeld, and Kevin Sommerfeld; nieces and nephews:  Daniel Hoppe, Julie (Kevin) English, Lauren (Mike) Burke, Dean (Karen) Campbell, Dace (Susan) Campbell, Tina (Chris Arjona) Cambell, Beth Sommerfeld, Chase (Kara) Sommerfeld, Todd Sommerfeld, and Laura (Brett) Junio.  He is further survived by great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Hoppe; step father, Les Nohr; father and mother-in-law, Robert and June (Johnson) Sommerfeld; nephew, David Hoppe; and sister-in-law, Margaret Sommerfeld.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.   A celebration of Dan's life will follow at Hollander's Pub and Grill.
