He was born on October 15, 1941 in Kingsford, MI to the late Reno and Olive (Hinkley) Tortelli. Dale graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. He married Marcia Wright in Iron Mountain, MI on June 20, 1970. They were able to celebrate 45 years of marriage together. Dale taught art at James Madison Junior High for 31 years.

Dale's faith was very important to him. His hobbies included vegetable gardening, growing the raspberry patch and baking. He enjoyed rollerblading when his heart and legs were stronger. He also enjoyed hunting, skiing, reading, watching cowboy movies, and creating things with his art. Most of all, Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Marnie (Eric) Bowen of Greenville, WI and Kristie Engle of Appleton, WI; six grandchildren, Samuel and Lillian Bowen, Sophie, Emma, Sawyer, and Luciannah Engle; brother, Gary (Bonnie) Tortelli; and brother-in-law, Bruce (Shirley) Wright; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at CROSSWALK CHURCH (2020 E. John Street, Appleton) from 9 am to the time of funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Patrick M. Ryan will be officiating.

Dale's family wishes to thank everyone at the Martha Siekman Cancer Center, especially Dr. William Guenther and his staff, all of whom helped to make Dale feel truly loved and cared for during his years of battling cancer.
