Obituary

Connie M. Frank, Darboy, age 57, died at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, April 17, 2016, after bravely battling breast cancer for 10 years. She was born in Appleton on May 12, 1958 to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Schemm) Kiel and graduated from Kimberly High School. Connie worked at J.J. Keller and Associates for the past 25 years. Connie married Peter Frank on February 14, 2005. Before Connie's illness, she enjoyed camping, hiking and spending time at their vacation home on Washington Island.

Connie loved to travel with her husband Peter. Her favorite country was Italy where she first went to the 2006 Winter Olympics to watch her favorite Speed Skater Apolo Anton Ohno. From there they spent 10 days touring Italy. In 2008 they spent a week in the southern part of Sicily renting a Villa overlooking the Ionian Sea, she often said that trip was the most relaxing vacation she's ever taken. They also traveled to mainland Greece, the Island of Crete and Turkey while taking a Mediterranean cruise which she very much enjoyed. In 2014 Connie and Peter traveled to London and Paris. But of all places, Connie loved New York City the most, often traveling there 2-3 times a year. She referred to New York as her home away from home. She loved everything about New York, the Broadway shows, biking through Central Park, taking the subway down to Little Italy and Chinatown.

She always made a point to attend Mass at The Cathedral of St. Patrick. On New Year's Eve of 2001 she spent five hours standing in the cold on 44th and Broadway waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square. She enjoyed Christmas time in New York, going to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas Tree and looking at all the Christmas decorations in the store windows. A sad day for Connie was the 9-11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Towers. She watched the news all day in disbelief. Connie was in the Towers six days before the attack. In 2015 Connie was once again able to go up to the new One World Trade Center and overlook her favorite city.

Connie enjoyed getting together with her In-Laws for a good game of Rummy Royal, tensions were always high between Connie and her Father-In-Law, but it was all in fun and they couldn't wait for the next time to play. Connie had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor, if you gave it to her, she would fire one back at you. Even during her illness, as sick as she was, she always managed to keep her sense of humor and always stayed positive.

Connie will be missed by all who knew her, especially her Mother-In-Law who always thought of Connie as her 9th daughter.

Connie is survived by her husband, Peter; Peter's daughters: Elizabeth (Brian) Kilp of Oshkosh and Rachel (Mark) Freeland of Redgranite; grandchildren: Jonathan and Amelia Lopez and Brooke Freeland; siblings: Mark (Lois) Kiel, Daniel (Kathy) Kiel, Karla (Terry) Tierney, Kristine (Leroy Jr.) Schannauer and Catherine (John) Safranski; father and mother-in-law: Gilbert and Cynthia Frank; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Steve (Doris) Frank, Mary (Roy) Chapman, Susan Wood, Nancy Frank, Barbara (Richard) Adam.
