Obituary

Clifford Peter Tierney, born April 30, 1949, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 1, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Tina Whitman-Tierney; son, James Peter (Stacie) Tierney; stepson, Jay Spencer Miller; sister, Patricia Tierney-Hull; brother, Kelly Paul Tierney; brother-in-law, Randall Johnson; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Louis Tierney; mother, Clementine Burghardt Tierney; and sister, Kathleen Tierney Johnson.

Clifford served honorably as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam in 1969.  He loved playing and coaching football and basketball. He played semi-professional football with the Manitowoc Chiefs. Through the years, Clifford had many jobs, but he loved working as Fire Safety Coordinator and part-time football coach at Lawrence University. He owned CJP Cleaning Service and following retirement, he loved working at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Clifford also loved playing basketball, softball, golf and drinking beer with his friends. He was loved by many and will be missed.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at SACRED HEART PARISH (222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton) from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow.  Committal Highland Memorial Park.
