Clara O. Basler, of Kaukauna, formerly of Menasha, age 92, died Wednesday December 2, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on January 4, 1923 in Pittsville to the late Louis and Anna (Dachel) Meier. Clara married Hercel Basler on May 22, 1943 at St. Patrick Parish in Menasha. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1995 after 52 years of marriage. Clara retired from Kimberly Clark in 1984 after 35 years of service. After her retirement, she and Hercel were able to travel. They particularly enjoyed their trips to Nevada. Clara's hobbies included sewing, quilting, embroidery and puzzles. She was always ready with a deck of cards for a game of 500 Rummy or Solitaire.
Clara is survived by her children: Dorothy Mitchell of Kaukauna; Ken (Susan) Basler of Neenah; Carol (Bruce) Kaehler of Neenah; and Pat (Diane) Basler of Menasha; grandchildren: Sharon (Kevin) Johnson, Jim (Barb), Dave (Pam) and John (Lisa) La Plant, Michelle and Mike (Tammy) Mitchell, Susan (Keith) Thon, Linda (Dan) Luneau, Jeff (Jody) Basler, Kristina (Dave) Schmidt, Wesley (Amber) and Andrew (Sarah) Basler, Kelly Klapper, Karry Christensen, Garrett Kaehler, Rhonda Ramirez, Todd Kaehler, Heather (Mike) Junek, Zachary and Benjamin Basler; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Noel Meier; and brothers-in-law: Gerald (Joyce) Basler and James Collins Jr. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hercel, Clara was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Leo Mitchell; brothers: Leo, Arnold (Phyllis), Raymond (Elaine) and Godfrey Meier; sisters: Philomena (Arthur) Boreson and Mary Meier; and brothers and sisters-in-law: William (Annalise), Harold, Roger (Delores), Arthur (Lillian) and Marvin (Ruby) Basler, Rosie Suess and Florence "Tootsie" (Ralph) Lambert.
Visitation will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH (2401 Main Ave. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Pastors will officiate. Committal Greenlawn Memorial Park.
