Christy Ann Pennings, Kaukauna, age 71, died at Cherry Meadows Hospice on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. She was born in Kaukauna on January 28, 1951 to the late Clarence and Eunice (Van Dalen) Pennings. In May, 2018, Christy was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed jewelry making, sewing, reading, and cooking and regularly volunteered at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Through the years, Christy also lived in Combined Locks, Colorado, and Tennessee.
Christy is survived by her brother, Gerald (Grace) Pennings of Peshtigo; sister-in-law, Barb Pennings; brothers-in-law, Gary Kuborn and James Verstegen; nephews: Mark, Luke, Matt, and John Pennings, Joe Kuborn, Jamie Verstegen, and Ryan Pennings; and nieces, Rebecca Strutz and Carrie Hietpas. She is further survived by many great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Christy was preceded in death by her siblings: Shirley Kuborn, Charles Pennings, and Joan Verstegen.
Christy's funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 30, 2022 at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS (425 W. Park Ridge Avenue, Appleton) with a luncheon to follow. Bring a dish to pass and please include the recipe. A recipe book will be published in her name as a remembrance.
Memorials to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry may be made in her honor.
In 1977, Christy was diagnosed with a very difficult disease and struggled with her health every day. We would like to profusely thank her doctors, Dr. Ballard, Dr. Butitta, and Dr. Kroner; her infusion people, Jim, Bryan, and Sheryl; the doctors and nurses on the 5 th floor at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton; the at-home nurses that visited weekly; the delivery people that brought all her supplies; and the compassionate hospice staff at Cherry Meadows who helped her on her last days.
