Obituary

Carole J. Werrbach, age 89, died Sunday, November 20, 2022. She was born in West Chicago, Illinois to the late Walter and Lillian (Dahlin) Brown, on October 7, 1933. Carole spent her career as a switchboard engineer for AT&T. She loved music, belonging to a musical group in high school, a ukulele group, and a Renaissance music group in River Forest, IL. Carole played the French horn in high school, and also sang in the Trinity Church Choir, her home church.

She loved adventures and hiked throughout her life, recently breaking her hip while hiking Manitowish Waters.   At 55 years of age, she hiked Sagarmatha (Everest) in Nepal – up to the first base camp.

Carole loved to learn and to read great books.  She spent many happy years attending Great Books seminars at the University of Chicago – Adult Basic Program.  Following retirement, Carole taught at a local preschool where she loved introducing toddlers to their first storybooks and songbooks.  She was an enthusiastic photographer for all of our family gatherings and holidays.  She was a former member of Resurrection Parish in Green Bay and a proud Benedictine oblate of St. Procopius Abbey in Lisle, Illinois.   She played tennis, baseball, and went dancing all over Chicagoland with her good friend, Alice Rodgers and remained close with Alice's children.

Carole loved life, her family, and her friends
