Obituary

Carlton "Carl" E. Fiestedt, age 89, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center.

Carl was born on September 15, 1936, to the late Armond and Margaret (Boyea) Fiestedt. On May 23, 1970, he married the love of his life, Grace (Verhagen) Fiestedt, at St. John Nepomucene Church. Together they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage before Grace's passing in June 2023. Their love was steadfast and enduring — a true partnership built on faith, devotion, and family.

Carl dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to American Can Company, where he worked as a skilled millwright. He took great pride in his work and labored tirelessly to provide for his family. In addition, he honorably served 7 years in the United States Army Reserves and was a proud member of AMVETS Post 30.

A devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carl expressed his faith not only through worship but also through song, lending his voice to the church choir for many years.

Carl found his greatest joy outdoors. He was an expert fisherman who could often be found on the water from dawn until dusk, patiently casting until he caught the big one. He was an avid bird watcher, and he took immense pride in his flower and vegetable gardens, reflecting his patience, dedication, and nurturing spirit. He also enjoyed rebuilding cars and spending evenings at the stock car races with family and friends.

Carl treasured time spent with his six grandchildren and his beloved dog, Shiloh. His playful side was evident in his legendary dad jokes and the silly songs he made up - memories that will bring smiles for years to come.

Carl will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and the quiet kindness he showed to those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared.

He is survived by his children: Edward (Kimberlee Selfridge) of Greenville, Charles (Erika) of Black Creek, and Lynn (Charles) Chernich of Fox Crossing; grandchildren: Eric, Owen, Karlee, Coulson, Hudson, and Della Louise; sisters: Bonnie Troiber, Carol Fiestedt, and Joanne Babic; and brothers-in-law: James (Myra) and Eugene (Sandy). He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Grace, Carl was preceded in death by, his grandparents Henry and Emma Fiestedt, and Joseph and Caroline Boyea; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Delaphine (Lom) Verhagen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Joseph Troiber, Jr, Melvin Schucknecht, Joseph Verhagen (infant), Walter (Fran) Verhagen, Jr., June (Marcellus) Van Gompel, and Douglas Verhagen.
