Bonnie Reece, Appleton, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, died Monday, May 9, 2022 at Applecreek Memory Care. She was born in Swifton, Arkansas on October 1, 1931 to the late Lloyd and Lizzie (Haynes) Phillips. Bonnie married Morris Gene Reece on March 4, 1950 in Tuscon. Gene served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, making her a military wife. She strongly supported the military life. He preceded her in death after 60 years of marriage.
Bonnie enjoyed the competitiveness of family football pools and family Texas Holdem tournaments. She much enjoyed getting together with her family and having Mexican food with those margaritas, that was a must have! Bonnie had a kind heart for animals. Her poodle, Misty, brought her years of companionship.
Bonnie looked forward to her many phone calls with her sisters, Betsy and Audrey. They gave Bonnie love and the connection to her home of Tuscon.
Mostly, Bonnie loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Medair Ann Harris of Phoenix; and Barbara Jo (Joseph) Van Deraa of Kimberly; grandchildren: Tommy Mc Pheeters, Robert Harris, Chris (Kim) Harris, Joshua (Carly) Van Deraa, and Amy (Ryan) Riemer; great grandchildren: Lilly Harris, Jessa Riemer, Elleanor Van Deraa, Kinley Riemer, Avalynn Van Deraa, and Wesley Van Deraa; and sisters: Audrey Thomas and Betsy (Steven) Pirrone. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, and husband Gene, Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda (Thom) Mc Pheeters; Gene's parents, J.C. and Josephine (Vaughn) Reece; and siblings: Lester Wilmuth, Ponder (Barbara) Phillips and Billie (Robert D. Walker Jr.) Walker.
Bonnie will be buried with her husband at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tucson.
The Family would like to thank Compassus Hospice, especially Minister Matt. Mom's face would light up whenever he came to see her.
