Betty J. Schommer, 80, Combined Locks, died Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Colony Oaks Care Center. She was born in Van Dyne on May 17, 1931 to the late Walter and Esther (Matulle) Scheller. Betty married Raymond J. Schommer on May 10, 1958 at St. Nicholas Parish in Freedom. She volunteered at the Community Blood Center and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary Post 7692. Betty enjoyed bowling and gardening. She also had fun playing horseshoes very poorly! Betty was a nurse at Kaukauna Community Hospital. She treasured her children and grandchildren and were very proud of them. Betty enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond J.; children: Debora (Randy) Markusen , Mountain; Tim (Carla) Schommer, Combined Locks; Carol Schommer, Kaukauna; Eileen (Scott) Buss, Appleton; Julie (Bob) Wyngaard, Kimberly; and James (Tracy) Schommer, Kimberly; grandchildren: Jesse (Mandy), and Wesley Markusen, Kim (special friend Justin Ringler) and Luke Wyngaard, Marlee and Sydney Buss, Reece and Phin Schommer; sisters: Gloria (Bill) Hughes, Janice Gerlach and Mary Lou (Norman) Wilkens; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marcella Seidl, Betty Coppus, Helen Schommer, Anna DeCoster and Pearl Scheller. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughters Janet and Nancy; father and mother-in-law: Leo and Jennie Schommer; siblings: Jake Scheller and Bernelda (Carl) Hackbarth; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack, Merle and Hazel Schommer, Gladys (Hank) Anschutz, Fran (Tom) Thompson, Mark DeCoster, Chuck Coppus, Carl Hackbarth and Gerald Gerlach.
Visitation will be held Monday January 9, 2012 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Andrew Kysely will officiate. The Rev. Robert Vandenberg will concelebrate. Committal St. Paul Cemetery.
