Bernice J. Knapton, 94, Appleton, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Appleton, from congestive heart failure. She was born September 21, 1921, in Milwaukee, to the late Joseph A. and Mary (Biesczik) Skrobacki. Bernice married Russell Knapton on February 14, 1942, in Sherman, TX, during WWII. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. She loved her 5 children, her 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Bernice & Russ enjoyed many family vacations in the Florida Keys, fishing the Great Lakes, & years of travel in their motorhome.
Bernice is survived by her children: Patricia Kruse, Forest Junction; Gary (Loretta) Knapton, Appleton; Doris Knapton, Freedom; Peggy Walker, Appleton; 6 grandchildren: David (Rebecca) Tueffel, Chris Tueffel, Laura Kruse, James (Pamela) Kruse, Becky (James) Harris, Kelly (John) Lenz, and great-grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Joseph (Angie) Skroback, and sister Dolores (Ken) Cheske.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice is further preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Dean; sisters: Violet Boehmke, Ethel Manegold, Jane Wyskochil, Dorothy Boehmke, Florence Riege, Grace Skroback; and brother, Carl Skroback Sr.
At her request, there will not be a funeral or service.
