Obituary

Bernard G. "Beans" Schuh, Kaukauna, age 86, died at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.  He was born in Brillion on May 9, 1938 to the late John and Margaret (Braun) Schuh.  Bernard married Nancy Opsteen on April 3, 1960 in Kimberly.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Bernard worked as a welder and machinist at Badger Northland.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, planting trees, and gardening.  Bernard also enjoyed going on trips and gambling.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bernard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; children:  Cheryl (John) Kobs, Appleton; Kenneth (Jenny) Schuh, Kaukauna; Barbara (Paul) Le Blanc, Kimberly; Debra (Kurt) Hungerford, Seymour; Bernard (Lynn) Schuh, Greenville; and Steven (Mark Anderson) Schuh, Appleton; grandchildren:  Tyler Kobs, Travis Kobs, Tia Schuh, Marcus Schuh, Jason Le Blanc, Katlin Le Blanc, Mathew Hungerford, Brandon Schuh, Ryan Dvorachek, Rodney Dvorachek, and Sarah Birkholtz; great grandchildren:  Daymon, Landon, Jenna, Satia, Amelia, and Violet; siblings:  Mary Reinke, Lucy (Charles) Meyer, and James (Betty) Schuh; sisters-in-law:  Marilyn Schuh, Len (Ellen) Opsteen, and Don (Linda) Opsteen; and God children:  Susie Lynch, Jane Rasmussen, Roy Hietpas, Betty Schuh, and Ellen Van Groll.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law:  Leonard and Susan Opsteen; brothers:  John (Rita), Henry (Lillian), Elmer (Annette), and Arnold Schuh; sisters:  Grace (Arthur) Kolbe, Margie (Vance) Bastian, Therese (Poul) Rasmussen, and Sylvia (John) Schaffer; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Leo Reinke, Margaret (Paul) Hietpas, Pat (Roger) Hietpas, and Rose (Edwin) Schuh.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna) from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  His Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Rydell officiating.  Military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow.  Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
