Barry R. Olson, Kaukauna, age 63, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at his home with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on August 20, 1953, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Leonard and Betty (Wade) Olson. He grew up in rural Elmwood, WI, on the family farm, where he learned to love the outdoors. Barry met his wife Joyce Cummings while in the 5 ^th grade, and they began dating in High School. They were married on August 14, 1976, in Martell, WI. Barry worked as an auto body repair instructor at Northwest Technical College in Green Bay. He later worked at various auto body repair shops and did property maintenance. Barry was a member of Peace United Methodist Church where he spent countless hours "working" as their unofficial handy man. His presence there will be greatly missed. He was also a member of the Kaukauna Elks Club B.P.O.E. 962. Barry's favorite thing to do was to spend time outside, especially in his flower and vegetable gardens. Helping grandson Billy plant his own garden was something he looked forward to each year. Barry loved to hunt with his brother Bruce and friends Pat and Brad, but fishing was his passion. His fishing trips to Canada and Alaska with his friend Rich were highlights in his life.

Barry will be sadly missed by Joyce, his wife of 40 years; children: Gretchen (Bill) Hammen of Kaukauna and Tyler (Carissa) Olson of Sheboygan; grandchildren: Billy, Lucy, Eleanor, and another grandbaby due in July; mother, Betty Olson; siblings: Barb (Jerry) Sinz, Bruce Olson, and twin sister Brenda (John Holst) Davidson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ardith Heise, Marlyn (Frank) Brown, Gordon Cummings, Sharon Murphy and Gloria (Ed) Ring; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Leonard; father and mother-in-law: Glenn (Dorothy) Cummings; and brother-in-law, Howard Heise.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (2300 Wisconsin Ave. Kaukauna) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 3:00 p.m. The Rev.
