Barbara Kent Snider, 83, of Little Chute, WI, passed away on November 17th, 2013. Barbara Lou was born on June 3rd, 1931 in Blue Island, IL, the daughter of John Nicholas Kent and Lucille Blanche Theibault. After moving to Douglas, MI, she attended Hope College in Holland, MI, and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, IL where she studied voice under Barre Hill.
She married Vladimir Žnidaršic in 1953, moving to Kankakee, IL where she was active in theater. Barbara and Vlado later resided for many years in Whitefish Bay, WI, where she raised their four children. She was active at Holy Family Parish and a member of their choir. In 1979, the Snider family moved to Lakeland, FL. She was a founder of the Florida SPCA and ran its Treasure Chest Thrift Shop. In later years, she lived with family in New York, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Throughout her life, Barbara travelled the world with her husband V.J., was an avid reader, and lover of animals.
She is survived by her daughter Anne Elisabeth, sons Charles Kent (s. Mary Owen) and Robert John (s. Colleen Snider), grandsons Nikola Ivan, Timothy and Joshua, granddaughters Georgina Sofia (s. Toby Vass), Elisabeth Sara, Priscilla Anne, Mary Lucille, and Penelope Irene, and three great-grandchildren, Layla, Carter and Olivia.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Vladimir Josef and daughter Kristin Mara.
A private service will be held. Donations in her honor may be made to the Florida SPCA in Lakeland, Florida.
