Arlene Marion Kempen, Kaukauna, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at American Grand Assisted Living in Kaukauna. She was born in Marinette on October 23, 1928 to the late Alfred and Adeline Schmidt. Arlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a full and beautiful life. Arlene was an outstanding cook, loved to read and was the family Scrabble champion. She loved to go to the casinos and travel. Arlene dearly loved her dogs, Tootsie and Honey Bun.

She is survived by her loving, loyal and faithful husband of 30 years, Leo; six children: Jane (special friend Joseph Backus) Johnson, Ann (Barry) Mentink, John (Sue) Garot, Phillip Garot, Lynn Simental and Anita (Michael) St. Ours; 11 step children, two of which were very close to her, Amy (Al) Prudon and Tom (Sherry) Kempen; 46 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and her brother. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She is survived by her loving, loyal and faithful husband of 30 years, Leo; six children; 11 step children; 46 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and her brother.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her first husband, John Garot; and step son, Andrew Lee Kempen.

She made a loving and joyous impact on the nursing staff while at American Grande. Arlene made many new friends, and was referred to as "Grandma."

Arlene's family will gather for a graveside service at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
