Arlene Marie
Egan
November 6, 1937 – June 2, 2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Arlene M. Egan, age 87, of Kaukauna, went home to heaven Monday, June 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Arlene was born in Kaukauna on November 6, 1937, to the late Ray and Helen (Gerrits) Meulemans. Following her high school graduation, Arlene married Jack Hopfensperger. Together, they raised their three children and ran the family farm. Arlene was a devoted and hard-working farm wife. After Jack's passing in 1977, Arlene began her work with Schneider National as a warranty specialist for over 20 years until retirement.
Arlene loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. She loved feeding the colorful birds in her yard and taking care of an occasional stray cat. She never passed up an opportunity to go thrifting but especially loved being outdoors, fishing, and going up north. Above all, Arlene cherished her family and the memories she made with them. She had a grateful appreciation for all this life gifted her and will be remembered by many as a positive, kind, and sweet soul, loved by all.
Arlene is survived by her children: Debbie (Dean) Cortright, Sandy (Tim) Harvey, and John (Kristine) Hopfensperger; her "second son", Butch (Brenda) Van Schyndel, her special friend, Jim Hanamann; her grandchildren: Luke (Jennifer) Cortright, Kyle (special friend Amy) Cortright, Amber (Bob) Meyers, Laura (Kelton) Jennings, Nathan (Wendy) Harvey, Shane Harvey, Cody (Joy) Harvey, Claire Hopfensperger, and Megan Hopfensperger; and her great grandchildren: Grace, Clara, Jack, Elijah, Arabella, Blair, Ella, Theo, Leon and one more arriving soon. Arlene is further survived by her stepchildren: Bill Egan, Patty Ellis, Mary Rodriguez, Julie Schuster, Lori Altman, Kelly Schmid, and Karen Egan; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Hopfensperger and Bill Egan; and her siblings, Bob Meulemans, Betty Piso, and Mary Van Schyndel, as well as their spouses.
Visitation for Arlene will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at THE TABLE COMMUNITY CHURCH (1880 Southbridge Road, De Pere) beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 10:45 a.m. Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
