Annette Smith, 85, formerly of Wrightstown, joined her heavenly Father April 19, 2016. Annette Harriet Smith, was born January 8, 1931 to Lewis Gilbert Standish and Anna Caroline Standish (nee Hatleli) in Arthyde, MN. She graduated from Willow River, MN High School and Swedish Hospital Nursing Program in Minneapolis.
She was married to George E. Smith on August 26, 1950 in Minneapolis. They were later divorced.

Annette is survived by her five children and their families. Ron Smith (Diane Runeberg) Minneapolis, MN; Sharon (Jerome) Smith-Leiterman and their children Adam and Evan, Fond du Lac; Darrell Smith (Pennylynn Zobel) Manitowish Waters; Denise (Craig) Scharbarth and their children Erin (fiance Alex Galla), Amber (Ben) Bastian and their daughters Ariana, Hannah and Izzy, all of the rural Chilton area; and Brian Smith, Wrightstown, and his children Bonnie (Justin) Burton, and Julie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Adelia Roy and June Christensen, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.


Annette worked as an LPN in the Fox Valley for many years retiring from Outagamie County Health Center in 1996.

After retirement Annette enjoyed being "on the go" and was seldom at home. Annette was a strong believer in giving back, such as continuing to buy school supplies for children long after her own children had finished school. She had many volunteer interests. She enjoyed friends, family, going to plays, collecting elephant nicnacs, rummaging, auctions, travel and wearing glittery shirts. The two winters after retirement she spent in Yuma, AZ. It was there that she suffered a stroke and lost her independence in 1997.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held later this summer.

Memorials to a charity of your choice are appreciated or to your local Humane Society for the care of cats, Annette's favorite.
