Alphalee Hittner, 93, Kaukauna, died Saturday December 17, 2011 at Kindred Hearts in Kaukauna. She was born in Skiatook, OK on January 24, 1918 to the late Samuel and Nellie (Holbrook) Cooper. During World War II, Alphalee embraced her Rosie the Riveter role by working in an aircraft factory. She earned her pilot license and flew the same planes she helped build. Alphalee married Ernest Hittner in Green Bay on February 4, 1961. He preceded her in death in 1995. Alphalee worked in the business office at St. Mary Hospital in Green Bay until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Kaukauna Moose Lodge and enjoyed their Friday fish fry. Alphalee was an avid Packer fan and also enjoyed fishing with her twin sister. She cherished her family and treasured time spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
Alphalee is survived by her children: David (Carol) Hughes, Salt Lake City, UT; Samuel Hughes, Argonne; Wallace (Judy) Morrow, Appleton; Susan Rothlesberger, Kaukauna; and Philip Morrow, Black Creek; daughters-in-law: Glenda Hughes, Heidemarie Hughes and Jean Morrow; grandchildren: Brent (Jennifer), Chris, Chuck (Mary), Carl (Angie), Sean, Patrick (Geri Ann) and Barry (Charlotte) Hughes, Diedre (Danny) Schoenfeld, Margaret Woodall, Melissa Wright, Amy (Tony) Krueger, Jeremy (Tami), Bryan, Jason, Richard and James Morrow, Lea (Shane) Romenesko and Jay Rothlesberger; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and sisters: Floramae Mc Kinney, Phoebe Lindsay and Marietta Frazier. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Ernie and parents, Alphalee was preceded in death by late husbands Carl Hughes and Walter Morrow; her son Ronald Hughes; siblings: Ruby (OT) Jones, Eula (Orin) Williams, Ethel (Jim) Melby, Thelma (Jack) Parfitt, Ivalee (HD) Bowlin, Forest (Naomi), Paul (Isabelle) and Chester (Lucille) Cooper; and brothers-in-law: Leroy Mc Kinney, William Lindsay and Henry Frazier.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 21, 2011 at ST. THOMAS MORE PARISH (1810 N. McDonald St. Appleton) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. James Lucas will officiate. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
