Alan J.
Rockman
August 13, 1960 – March 28, 2017
Alan Jay Rockman was a devoted husband, loving father, perfect sibling, faithful friend, servant leader, and compassionate pastor. There are no words to describe our loss. His gentle guidance, contagious laughter, and inspiring voice will be missed in our home and in the church. He loved music, spending quality time with people he cared about, and reminding his siblings that he was mom's favorite. Al had a teasing heart and quick wit. There was no end to the dad jokes but he never missed out on a teachable moment or the opportunity to share his heart for the gospel. His love for Christ shone throughout his daily life; he led by example and loved sacrificially. We may not have been ready to say good-bye, but we know he was ready to go and eager to be in Heaven with His Savior and be reunited with Callie. We miss him desperately but know that he would want us to celebrate his life, not mourn his passing.
He was born August 13 th , 1960 in Wausau, WI and grew up with a large and loving family in Stevens Point. Al worked at Rawhide Boys Ranch before marrying the love of his life Mary on June 6 th , 1987 and moving to Appleton, WI where they were blessed with four children. He served over 20 years at AT&T while pursuing his passion of leading worship at Christ the Rock. He has enjoyed serving full time at the church over the last 5 years as a pastor and elder.
Al died March 28, 2017 and is survived by his wife, Mary (Wirkes) Rockman; his children, Aubrey, Jordan, and Jace Rockman; his brothers and sisters, Debra Jo Rockman, Lawrence (Mary Lou) Rockman, Jean (Mark) Brillowski, Scott (Lauri) Rockman, Kay (Dean) Lamb, Randy (Rose) Rockman, Lynn (Phil) DiSalvo, Jim (Vicky) Rockman, Lori (Garret) Glodowski, and Sandy (Brian) Sackmann. He had many caring nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Verona Rockman, and his daughter, Callie Rockman.
Funeral services will be held at Christ the Rock Community Church (W6254 US Highway 10-114, Menasha) on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Visitation will be from 3:30 pm until 6:00 pm with a memorial service and reception to follow. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family will establish a memorial in honor of Al's life. Another way to remember Al is to go home and love your family, give a little more graciously, say a prayer for someone in need, and listen to some old music.
Thank you to all of the family, friends, and church members who have supported the Rockman family through this difficult time.
