Agnes June (Canning) McAllen, Appleton, age 95, died Monday, May 11, 2020, at St. Paul Elder Services. Agnes was born June 20, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Michael and Mary (Ircink) Canning. She lived on Pearson Street, which is now declared a historical landmark. She was proud of her Irish and Bohemian heritage.

Agnes married Charles F. McAllen, Jr., on November 1, 1947, at Saint Rita's Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They moved to Laona, Wisconsin, where they opened a small grocery store. They then moved back to Milwaukee where they raised their six children. Charles retired from Allen Bradley (25 years) and they moved back up north to Townsend, Wisconsin, where they built a five-bedroom home on 60 acres of land where they raised their children.

The McAllen family went on many outings together with the Flegal family. Everyone had a playmate and we built beautiful memories together on picnic, fishing, swimming, and long visits chatting together. Agnes and Charlie also lived in Steven Point and Mountain.

In their retirement years, Agnes and Charles enjoyed going to the local casino for a date night and having dinner together. After Charles passed away in February 2010, Agnes lived with her daughter in West Bend, where she was able to enjoy all the family holiday gatherings with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandma "Aggie" was the matriarch of our family. She will always be known for her cake decorating skills, cookies, gum, and Grandma Popsicles. She will be truly missed by her family for her wit and sense of humor.

Agnes is survived by her children:  Judith Bruckner, Richland Center, WI; Shirley McAllen, Floral City, FL; Edward (Julie) McAllen, Galesville, WI; Mary (Loc) Vu, Buffalo Grove, IL; Eileen Lee, Appleton, WI; and Kathleen McAllen, Appleton, WI; grandchildren:  Patricia (Donald) Smith, Charles O'Connor, Eric O'Connor, James O'Connor, Vincent O'Connor, Colleen (Ben) Froelich, Cassidy (Steven) Miller, Cedar McAllen, Michael (Kat) Vu, Catherine Vu, Elizabeth Pasciak, Maryann Vu, Kaitlin Lee, Olivia Lee, Eion Schreiber, and Erin Schreiber; and great grandchildren:  Abbie O'Connor, Gavin O'Connor, Claire Froelich, Dalton Smith, Orea La Vell, Trenton Smith, and two great granddaughters on the way.  Agnes had many special nieces and nephews, and was particularly close to her niece Janice Pikago.  She is further survived by close friend, Audrey Zimmerman.

In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick McAllen, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Laura (Johnson) McAllen, Sr.; siblings:  Marion (Peter) Pikago, Florence Bruske, Edward (Catherine) Canning, John Canning, and Robert Canning.
