Mildred L. Jonen

Mildred Lucille Jonen, age 90, of Kaukauna, passed away Monday February 25, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Northland, Michigan on October 11, 1922 to the late Ernest and Blanche (Bedard) Fillion. On March 28, 1940 Mildred married Clarence R. Jonen in Appleton. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1988.

Millie lived for 67 years on the dairy farm they purchased east of Kaukauna in February of 1946. Clarence was advised not to buy a farm because “She’s a city girl.” Working hard alongside her husband, she proved them wrong. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Other interests were her “acres” of flower and vegetable gardens. Millie served as a 4-H leader for several years. Family gatherings were very important to Millie, especially on Easter and Christmas. She also loved playing cards, baking, sewing, shopping, and listening to the radio, particularly the “Good Neighbor Show.” Millie had a keen sense of humor and was always ready with a smile. Well done, good and faithful one!

Millie is survived by five children: Jean A. Kahler, Appleton; Margaret M. (her favorite son-in-law Robert) Stevenson, Combined Locks; Donna M. Landers, Oshkosh; Jerome L. (Diana) Jonen, Slinger; and Patricia (special friend Doug Otten) Jonen, Kaukauna; son-in-law, Patrick Landers; 13 grandchildren: Randal (Leanne), Ellen, Anthony (Angela) and Russell (Susan) Kahler, Timothy (Shelley) and Brian (Tracy Burrell) Stevenson, Lynn (David) Honari, Heather (special friend Todd Schimmers) Landers, Jason (special friend Dana Brockman) Landers, Sheila (special friend Mike Becker) Braun and Jeffrey (Christine) Landers, Rachael (Steven) Parsons and Rebecca (Thomas) Varebrook; step grandchildren: Sandra, Brian and Jackie Pomeranski; 19 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and sister-in-law Blanche (Jonen) Maier. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James J. Jonen; son-in-law, Donald R. Kahler; two grandchildren; two twin great grandchildren; sister, Lila M. Maples; and brother, Robert C. Fillion.

Visitation will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL – ST. MARY CHURCH ( 119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Pastors will officiate. Committal St. Mary Cemetery. . In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.

The family would like to thank our sister, Patricia, for her steadfast care of our mother over the preceding years. Also thank you to Fr. Jerome Pastors for his many visits and prayers and Affinity Visiting Nurses/Hospice including Patsy, Cass, April, Jennifer, Kelly, Gina, Kristin and Jean for their loving care.
